Dear Friends,

As we move into summer and hopefully better weather I wanted to share with you all the work I have been involved with in Ottawa and the riding, working to deliver for our community of King-Vaughan.

Sincerely,

IN OTTAWA

Daughters of the Vote

It was an honour meeting the Daughters of the Vote, including King-Vaughan's very own Eleni Pappas. These 338 inspiring young women spoke about important issues facing our country from gender equality to indigenous affairs and climate change. Thanks to all of you for sharing your voices. We are listening.

IN THE COMMUNITY

Walking to Conquer Cancer

Walking with my wonderful team of volunteers to #ConquerCancer at Vaughan Mills. This fun event has raised $1.2M for Mackenzie Health cancer care since 1997 and is organized by Vaughan in Motion volunteers. Thanks to all of those who participated for the incredible support!

Protecting Spaces in King Township

I was excited to announce the establishment of the MapleCross Nature Reserve between Pottageville & Schomberg. Protecting this mix of forests and wetlands is not only vital for protecting our local air and ground water but also in combating the impacts of climate change. Thanks to all those who worked together to ensure this vital habitat is protected!

Celebrating Italian Heritage Month

I was proud to celebrate National Italian Heritage Month throughout the community; designated as a result of my Private Members Motion. This month is an opportunity to recognize important contributions that Italian-Canadians have made in our communities and our country. While celebrating in Vaughan this month, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced that the families of Italian-Canadians interned during the Second World War will finally receive a formal apology in Parliament.

Infrastructure Funding for Vaughan

Delighted to welcome Minister Kirsty Duncan to Vaughan to discuss the important work we continue to build on together for the people of our great city, including an additional $9M made available through the federal Gas Tax Fund that will support municipal infrastructure.

Investing in Green Infrastructure

Investing in our green infrastructure is as important as investing in bricks & mortar. That's why our government is contributing $10.1 M to York Region which will increase our forest cover and resilience to climate change.

Announcing funding for Local Business

Riverside Natural Foods is a family run business that is thriving and expanding, employing almost 400 people from 25 different countries. Through our federal grant AgriInnovate Program, they received $8.5 million for advanced manufacturing equipment to boost production, and $575,000 through our FedDev grant program. Thank you Minister Bibeau for your visit to Vaughan!

Celebrating Victoria Day in King Township

What a great way to spend Victoria Day; in a parade & festival in Nobleton, ending with fireworks. Thanks to my great team of volunteers and the Nobleton Lions Club for their generosity & for helping to bring the community together with many sponsors and vendors!

Hosting Iftar

Ramadan Mubarak! This month I hosted an Iftar dinner with in the community, bringing different faith leaders together from across our diverse city to discuss our commonality & the meaning of Ramadan.

CRA Improvements Town Hall

Our government is committed to ensuring that the CRA is putting people first as it moves to improve its services. With our ongoing public consultations and events like the town hall I hosted in the riding, we are hearing directly from constituents to inform our next steps to serve Canadians better.

York Region Pride!

I was PROUD to join colleagues and friends at the York Region Pride parade. Thank you to everybody who came out to celebrate inclusion, equality and our LGBTQ+ community!

Listening to our Seniors

I had the opportunity to speak at SAVI's Seniors Summit. It was a fantastic opportunity to hear directly from our seniors and share what our government is delivering; including Canada's first National Dementia Strategy, and laying the foundation for a National Pharmacare Plan.
